Former Bangladesh Bank official Saiful Islam has been appointed as a new director on the board of state-owned Rupali Bank PLC, replacing Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar.
The appointment was announced in a gazette notification issued by the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance today (27 April).
According to the notification, Saiful was appointed under the relevant provisions of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
Previously, he served as an executive director at Bangladesh Bank and has extensive experience in the banking sector.
Authorities have been asked to promptly inform the government of the date of his joining.
