Rubaiyat Jamil, founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of ICE Technologies, passed away yesterday (27 March). He was 46.
He breathed his last after a sudden collapse while playing a cricket match in Hathazari, Chattogram, according to a press release.
A dynamic and forward-thinking entrepreneur, Rubaiyat Jamil was known for his involvement in a diverse range of business ventures spanning technology, food retail, elevators and escalators and industrial cooling solutions.
His leadership at ICE Technologies reflected his vision of innovation and growth in Bangladesh’s evolving business landscape.
Born into a distinguished family, he was the only son of Late Mahbub Jamil, who served as Special Assistant (Minister) to the Chief Adviser during 2008–09 and was also Chairman of Singer Bangladesh Ltd.
Carrying forward a legacy of leadership and service, Rubaiyat established himself as a respected figure in the country’s business community.
He contributed actively to several prominent organisations. He was a former Director of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI), Dhaka, and maintained memberships with the International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh (ICC-B), German Chamber of Commerce and Industries, BASIS, Gulshan Club, International Club Dhaka, Gulshan Youth Club and Savar Golf Club.
Beyond his professional achievements, Rubaiyat Jamil had a deep passion for cricket. In his youth, he proudly represented Bangladesh at the under-16 and under-19 levels during the 1990s—an early reflection of his discipline, teamwork, and competitive spirit that later defined his business career.
He is survived by his mother, sister, wife and three daughters, along with numerous relatives, friends, and well-wishers who mourn his untimely passing.
His Namaz-e-Janazah will be held tomorrow (29 March) after Zuhr prayers at Gulshan Azad Mosque. He will be laid to rest at Banani Graveyard.
Rubaiyat Jamil will be remembered not only for his entrepreneurial drive and contributions to industry but also for his warmth, sportsmanship, and dedication to community.
His sudden departure leaves a profound void in both the business world and among those who knew him personally.
