Police have arrested two individuals after an Ansar member was injured while attempting to apprehend alleged thieves in the capital’s Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital.
The detainees have been identified as Rezaul, 29 and Md Ratul, 19.
Confirming the matter, Deputy Director and Public Relations Officer of Bangladesh Ansar, Md Ashiquzzaman, said the detainees have been handed over to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.
He also said that the incident took place around 9:30pm on the ground floor of the hospital building yesterday (20 March) when the suspects entered the building by cutting through a window grill for theft.
When on-duty Ansar personnel Kawser Hossain and Azizur Rahman became aware of the intruders, they rushed to the scene. During the confrontation, one of the thieves struck Kawser Hossain on the head with a water tap, leaving him injured.
Later, he was rescued and immediately taken to the emergency unit of the hospital, where he received primary treatment.
