A student of Jahangirnagar University was found dead in a room of the university’s Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Haq Hall today (18 March).
The deceased was identified as Arup Ratan Konishk, a student of the 50th batch of the Archaeology Department.

According to residents of the hall, Konishk had been staying alone in his room during the Eid vacation. Fellow students noticed his hanging body through the window while passing by the room and immediately broke open the door to enter. They then informed the hall authorities and the university administration.
The hall’s Provost Professor Nazrul Islam said, “Students informed me around 2pm. The proctorial body and police have arrived. The body has been brought down, and a medical team is examining it. Further updates will be provided after procedures are completed.”
University Proctor Professor AKM Rashidul Alam said, “We rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the information. Necessary legal procedures are being carried out in the presence of the police. However, it cannot yet be confirmed whether this was a suicide or if there were other causes behind the incident.”
