The government has announced that Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed will assume the responsibilities of the Ministry of Defence, the Cabinet Division, and the Armed Forces Division in the absence of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
A gazette was published on Tuesday (17 March), to this end.
Besides, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will assume the responsibilities of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The gazette specifies that this arrangement will ensure continuity in the functioning of the key government departments while the prime minister is away.
No further details on the duration of the arrangement were disclosed.
