The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, in collaboration with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, distributed food packages among residents in Dhaka today (17 March) ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, according to a post on Jamaat’s official Facebook page.
The distribution took place at Adarsha High School ground in Mirpur-10, where more than 1,000 residents received food supplies, according to a post on the embassy’s official Facebook page.
Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen and Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman attended the event and handed over the packages.
Speaking at the programme, the ambassador said China and Bangladesh are comprehensive strategic cooperative partners and share strong bilateral ties, reads a post on the embassy’s official Facebook page.
He said Eid-ul-Fitr is a time for gratitude and sharing, and the initiative aims to support residents in celebrating the festival peacefully.
Yao also said China will continue to implement projects that benefit people and improve livelihoods in both countries.
Shafiqur thanked the Chinese embassy for the donation, saying it reflects China’s friendship with the people of Bangladesh.
He added that Jamaat is keen to strengthen relations with China and expand cooperation at the grassroots level to improve public welfare.
