The Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has launched a specialized cleanliness and mosquito control drive in and around the Chattogram Medical College (CMC) area.
CCC Mayor Shahadat Hossain inaugurated the initiative at the Chattogram Medical College area this morning (14 March).
According to the city corporation, the special cleanliness and mosquito eradication campaign will be conducted across the city every Saturday, following the prime minister’s directive.
Speaking at the inauguration, Shahadat said the city corporation has been strengthening its sanitation efforts to ensure a healthy environment for residents.
“The Chattogram Medical College area is extremely important, as thousands of people come here every day for medical services. Therefore, the area is being given top priority to control mosquito infestation and prevent diseases such as dengue,” he said.
The mayor also urged residents to remain aware of maintaining cleanliness in their homes, shops, and surrounding areas, stressing that ensuring a clean city is not the responsibility of the city corporation alone.
He said the weekly campaign aims to further encourage residents to maintain cleanliness across the city.
During the drive, drains around the Chattogram Medical College main gate, KB Fazlul Kader Road, and Probortok Mor were cleaned, while larvicide was sprayed to control mosquito breeding.
The mayor expressed hope that the initiative would play an important role in making Chattogram a cleaner, healthier, and more liveable city.
