He also urged parents to keep track of where their children go, who they spend time with and what they are doing.

Students of schools and colleges found staying outside their homes without a valid reason after evening in Cox’s Bazar town may be arrested, Chattogram Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Abdul Quddus Chowdhury has warned.
He also urged parents to keep track of where their children go, who they spend time with and what they are doing.
The DIG made the remarks while addressing a gathering titled “Prevention of Violence against Women and Children and Suppression of Social Crimes” as the chief guest at Shahid Subhash Hall of Cox’s Bazar Public Library yesterday (31 October).
He said if someone becomes involved in criminal activities in an area, responsibility cannot be placed solely on that individual. Families, neighbours and other responsible members of society also have a role to play.
He particularly stressed the need to monitor the activities of young people.
The DIG said people should protest if a woman in their neighbourhood becomes a victim of violence over dowry.
“Development does not only mean the development of brick-and-mortar structures and buildings. People’s mindset also needs to change,” he said.
Calling on police and the public to work together to control crime in Cox’s Bazar, he said crime prevention is not solely the responsibility of law enforcement agencies.
“Every member of society must be aware and responsible. A social movement must be built against crime,” he added.
