Paris Hilton has just defended herself after she received backlash over her family’s Halloween costumes.
The 45-year-old DJ and socialite shared a professional photoshoot on Instagram with her husband Carter Reum, their son Patrick, three, and two-year-old daughter London as characters from Disney classic Beauty and the Beast.
Carter was the Beast, with Paris as Belle, Phoenix as Lumière and London as Chip, but some fans wondered why their daughter wasn’t dressed as the princess.
In the comments of another user’s Instagram post about the costumes, Paris explained, “Beauty and the Beast is one of their favorite movies, and London said she wanted to dress up as Chip.”
“She said it was her favorite character in the movie,” the TV personality further clarified.
Meanwhile, Paris previously reflected on her fashion influence, and she’s thrilled to see aspects of the 2000s style return to prominence telling PEOPLE magazine, “It makes me so happy and proud.”
“It makes me so proud, because I am the one who really created Y2K fashion, so it’s just so much fun to see so many people wearing looks that I’ve worn, and just seeing on all the biggest designers’ mood boards, pictures of me,” she added.
Paris also feels proud to have been part of the social media revolution, expressing, “It’s definitely changed the game in so many ways.”
She continued, “I love how we all have our own platform, so we’re able to show our truth instead of having the media control everything; people can really take agency to really create a brand as well.”
“It’s so exciting that anyone with a phone going on a platform could literally create their own empire, and I was the first to do it, so to see so many people inspired by that and following in my footsteps makes me extremely proud to be the OG,” The Bling Ring star noted.
Earlier this year, venture capitalist Carter took to Instagram to assure fans that he and Paris are “the happiest and best couple” in response to a video clip of her turning away from his kiss to pose for photos at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
He wrote, “Rest assured my wife @parishilton is my one in a trillion and we’re the happiest and best couple. Although I appreciate everyone’s amateur psychology takes as many called out, I just love giving my wife a kiss and she just hates her makeup being smudged on a red carpet.”
