Dax Shepherd is talking about one aspect of marriage that is still difficult with wife Kristen Bell
Speaking on Wednesday’s episode of his “Armchair Expert” podcast, Shepherd revealed they still deal with “a lot of s–t” as they raise their daughters Lincoln, 13, and Delta, 11.
“It throws the whole dynamic into a new zone that you have to figure out,” said the comedian.
“You know, I think it’s really hard when they’re really little because you care so much about the decisions you’re making with the kid,” Shepard, 51, continued. “You’re certain you can f–k it up.”
“And then there’s a sweet spot between, like, [age] 6 and puberty,” he added. “You’re like, ‘This is working out pretty good. I think this compromise, however we’re doing it, is working.’”
“And then there’s more stress,” he continued. “I like to think if we didn’t have kids, it would be pretty smooth sailing,” says Shepherd.
Earlier, in his Armchair Expert Podcast, the Hit and Run actor said, “I have for years on here been acknowledging that I had been molested, and that was its own hurdle to just say that. And I got quite comfortable being able to say that. That was fine.”
Shepard shared that he spent the whole last year thinking if has the courage to write down the details in the new memoir.
“Because the details were always gonna be mine. I didn’t want anyone to be envisioning me. It’s weird that that was still some wall between my shame”, he added.
The Parenthood actor admitted that it took him four months to tell that story. “And when I’m writing it, I cannot help but thinking of people knowing this about me and how still exposed that feels”, said Dax.
