A puja mandap in Taherpur of Bagmara Upazila in Rajshahi has caught the attention of visitors with an exceptional arrangement during the Sharadiya Durga festival.
At the traditional Taherpur Sri Sri Gangamata Temple, they have created a Durga idol from 10,000 golden-coin chocolates. Visitors are crowding the temple to see this innovative idol.
The idol was created on the initiative of the local social organization Nabajagaran Sangha. Interest in it has grown since photos and videos of the idol, decorated with gold-colored coin chocolates, spread on social media.
This creative arrangement has made the puja mandap in Haldarpara, Taherpur, one of the main attractions for visitors in the Rajshahi region.
Dijen Haldar, General Secretary of the Taherpur Sri Sri Gangamata Temple Committee, said that every year they try to give visitors something new during Durga Puja.
As part of that continuity, this year they planned to make the Durga idol with chocolates. They spent about 80,000 taka to make this exceptional idol.
He said the main artist of the idol is Nil Kumar Das, an idol artist from Natore. In his skilled hands, 10,000 pieces of coin-shaped chocolate have been used in the idol’s attire.
Shiben Haldar, President of the Taherpur Sri Sri Gangamata Temple Committee, said that the idol made with chocolate has added a new dimension to the joy of this year’s puja.
Necessary measures have been taken by the committee so that visitors can enjoy the puja safely and comfortably.
