Six people died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours, while 1,942 new patients were admitted to hospitals during the same period.
The latest figures take the country’s dengue death toll to 239, according to a press release issued today (29 September) by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same period, 1,751 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the total number of recoveries this year to 72,008.
The cumulative number of dengue cases reported across the country has now reached 77,672.
In the first 29 days of September, 142 people died of dengue, the highest monthly death toll recorded so far this year.
From January to May, dengue claimed five lives in total, followed by 13 deaths in June, 36 in July and 43 in August.
Of the six deaths reported in the last 24 hours, one each was reported from Dhaka division, Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporation, while three deaths were reported from Rajshahi division.
