At least 20 people were injured on Sunday in a clash between BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami activists during rival processions in Chandradwip Union of Bauphal upazila.
The injured were taken to Bauphal Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
The violence erupted in the afternoon at Bhandaria Bazar when supporters of the two parties confronted each other.
Jamaat candidate Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud alleged BNP activists attacked his supporters, leaving 15 injured, while BNP candidate Shahidul Alam Talukder said one of his supporters was seriously hurt and taken to Barishal Medical College Hospital.
Bauphal Police Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman said the clashes left several injured but the situation is now under control, though locals report tensions remain high.
