Crude bomb explodes near Doel Chattar at DU

A crude bomb exploded near the mausoleum of three leaders at Dhaka University’s Doel Chattar late yesterday (19 September), adding to a series of blasts reported across the capital throughout the evening.

The explosion occurred on the road in front of the mausoleum, near metro rail pillar 557, between around 11:30pm and 11:45pm, according to police.

Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Moniruzzaman confirmed the incident to The Business Standard.

“A crude bomb exploded on the road in front of the Three Leaders’ Mausoleum between 11:30pm and 11:45pm. No one was injured. We are investigating the incident,” he said.

Meanwhile, reports of another possible crude bomb explosion in the Secretariat area circulated late at night.

Police visited the reported location but found no evidence of an explosion there, the OC said.

“We went to the spot but found no truth to the report. We also found no evidence,” he said.

Earlier in the evening, four crude bombs exploded at Jatrabari intersection.

Two more crude bombs later exploded inside Kamalapur railway station, although no casualties were reported.

Police are investigating the latest explosion and examining whether it is connected to the other incidents reported across Dhaka.
