A man was killed and another injured after the motorcycle carrying them lost control and hit a road divider on the Jatrabari-Gulistan Flyover in the capital’s Jatrabari area today (18 Sept).
The deceased was identified as Kabir Hossain, 32, a security guard at Sonali Bank Ltd who lived at Gopibagh in Motijheel.
The injured was identified as Sumon Mia, 24, son of Hamidul Islam of Madhyapara village under Saghata upazila of Gaibandha.
The accident occurred around 12:10am, according to police and the deceased’s roommate.
Paban Chandra Das, Kabir’s roommate, said the motorcycle the two men were riding on lost control and hit the divider on the flyover around 12:10am, leaving both seriously injured.
They were rescued and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 1am.
Kabir was later shifted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), popularly known as Pangu Hospital.
He was later taken back to DMCH, where he died around 9am while undergoing treatment.
Inspector Md Habibur Rahman, in charge of the DMCH police camp, said the body was kept at the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
