Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members recovered Indian contraband drugs worth Tk12.12 lakh in a special operation in Kushtia today (18 Sept).
Acting on specific intelligence, a patrol team of the Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) conducted the operation around 3am in Kazipur Border Para field under the jurisdiction of the Kazipur Border Outpost (BOP).
The team recovered eight bottles of Indian liquor and 4,000 cyproheptadine tablets in an abandoned state, according to a press release.
The process of handing the drugs over to Gangni Police Station in Meherpur district is underway in accordance with the law, it said.
The battalion said it has strengthened intelligence activities and has been conducting special operations to prevent drug smuggling in the border areas.
