A journalist was killed and another person was injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a motorcycle in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur today (13 September).
The accident occurred around noon in the Munsurabad area on the Dhaka-Khulna highway, police said.
The deceased was identified as Kazi Ashraf, Lohagara upazila correspondent for Daily Bhorer Darpan. The injured person, identified as Anik, was travelling on the motorcycle with him.
According to police, Ashraf and Anik were travelling towards Dhaka from Narail on a motorcycle. When they reached the Munsurabad bus stand area, a Dola Paribahan bus coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with the motorcycle, leaving both riders critically injured.
Both were critically injured in the accident.
Highway police rescued and took them to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex. As Ashraf’s condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Police said legal proceedings in connection with the accident are underway.
