Japan today (6 February) signed an economic partnership agreement with Bangladesh to further promote economic relations between the two countries.
Horii Iwao, state minister for foreign affairs of Japan, and Sk Bashir Uddin, adviser for commerce, textiles and jute, and civil aviation and tourism of the interim government of Bangladesh, signed the “Agreement between Japan and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for an Economic Partnership” in Tokyo.
Horii and Bashir welcomed today’s signing, noting that “as Bangladesh’s first EPA, this agreement will further strengthen the bond between the two countries,” Japan’s foreign ministry said in a statement.
“This agreement is expected to further promote economic relations with Bangladesh, which connects rapidly growing Southwest and Southeast Asia, through improved market access for trade in goods and services and the development of relevant rules.”
