A businessman has alleged that a group of men posing as members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) robbed his employee of Tk26 lakh from Savar’s Hemayetpur area.
The incident reportedly took place around 11am on Thursday (10 September) on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway, near the Hemayetpur bus stand.
Confirming the matter, Savar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Saiful Alam told TBS that the businessman filed the case as the plaintiff, accusing four unidentified individuals
Businessman Md Rezaul Karim told TBS that his employee, Israfil Haque, 38, had withdrawn Tk26 lakh from the Hemayetpur branch of a bank for business purposes on Thursday morning.
According to the case statement, while Isrrafil was crossing the highway from the southern to the northern side after withdrawing the money, four men, including the driver, got out of a private car wearing RAB uniforms and carrying locally made weapons.
They surrounded him and blocked his way, he said.
OC Md Saiful Alam said, “A case has been filed over the looting of Tk26 lakh by perpetrators posing as RAB personnel. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the perpetrators.”
