Four important standing and parliamentary committees have been formed in the 13th parliament, including committees on parliamentary procedures, government assurances, housing and public works, and petitions.
The committees were formed today (7 September) under Article 76 of the Constitution and relevant provisions of the Rules of Procedure of Parliament.
Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni moved the proposals on behalf of the leader of the house with the latter’s consent. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad later nominated the members of the Petition Committee.
Committee on Rules of Procedure
A 12-member Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure was formed under Rule 264 of the Rules of Procedure.
Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, MP from Bhola-3, was made chairman of the committee.
Its members are Barrister Kayser Kamal (Netrokona-1), Salahuddin Ahmed (Cox’s Bazar-1), Nurul Islam Moni (Barguna-2), Md Asaduzzaman (Jhenaidah-1), A M Mahbub Uddin Khokon (Noakhali-1), Barrister Muhammad Nawshad Zamir (Panchagarh-1), Shakila Farzana(Women’s Seat-8), Syed Abdullah Mohammed Taher (Cumilla-11), Shahjahan Chowdhury (Chattogram-15), Muhammad Nazibur Rahman (Pabna-1) and Akhter Hossen (Rangpur-4).
Committee on Government Assurances
An eight-member Committee on Government Assurances was formed under Rule 245.
Noakhali-1 MP A M Mahbub Uddin Khokon was appointed chairman.
The other members are Golam Mohammad Siraj (Bogura-5), Md Jahidur Rahaman (Thakurgaon-3), Shah Md Wares Ali Mamun (Jamalpur-5), Md Mostafizur Rahman (Naogaon-1), Md Mahbubul Alam (Kurigram-3), Nurun Nesa Siddiqua (Women’s Seat-37) and GM Nazrul Islam (Satkhira-4).
Housing and Public Works Committee
A 10-member Standing Committee on the Ministry of Housing and Public Works was formed under Rules 246, 247 and 248.
Bogura-6 MP Md Rezaul Karim Badsha was appointed chairman.
The committee members are Acting Housing and Public Works Minister, if he is a member of parliament, Ahammad Sohel Monzoor (Pirojpur-2), Md Lutfozzaman Babar (Netrokona-4), Md Mosharrf Hossain (Bogura-4), Sk Mozibur Rahman Iqbal(Kishoreganj-5), M Manjurul Karim Roni (Gazipur-2), Ferdousy Ahmed (Women’s Seat-23), Md Ruhul Amin (Chuadanga-2) and Md Tajuddin Khan (Meherpur-1).
Petition Committee
A 10-member Petition Committee was formed under Rules 231 and 232 to examine petitions submitted by citizens and carry out related responsibilities.
Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad was appointed chairman of the committee.
Its members are Barrister Kayser Kamal (Netrokona-1), Nurul Islam Moni (Barguna-2), ABM Ashraf Uddin (Nizan) (Lakshmipur-4), Rakibul Islam (Khulna-3), M Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu (Natore-2), Alhaj Md Gk Gouse(Habiganj-3), Miah Nuruddin Ahmad Apu (Shariatpur-3), Md Nahid Islam (Dhaka-11) and Md Rafiqul Islam Khan (Sirajganj-4).
