At least 30 others were injured after the Tungipara Express bus lost control on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway, police say.

Three passengers were killed and at least 30 others injured after a bus lost control and plunged into a roadside ditch in Gopalganj’s Muksudpur upazila this morning (6 September).
The accident occurred around 10:45am beside the Gerakhola Bridge on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway, said Mohammad Helal Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhanga Highway Police Station.
The identities of the three deceased passengers have not yet been confirmed.
According to police and local residents, the Tungipara Express bus was travelling from Khulna to Dhaka when it reached the Gerakhola area and lost control before falling into the ditch beside the bridge.
The bus was severely damaged, with three passengers dying at the scene and at least 30 others sustaining injuries.
Police and Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot after receiving the news and rescued passengers from the wreckage.
Twelve seriously injured passengers were taken to Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex, while others received first aid at the scene and returned home.
Authorities said the death toll could rise as some of the injured are in critical condition.
“The bus lost control due to excessive speed before falling into the ditch,” OC Helal Uddin said.
The bus was later recovered and removed from the scene, he added.
