The current total number of voters is 12,87,77,643; of them, 6,55,10,665 are male, 6,32,65,711 female and 1,267 third-gender, ahead of the next local government elections.
“We are preparing for the local government elections based on the voter registrations completed up to 31 July. According to the final voter list, the current number of voters is 12,87,77,643,” Election Commission (EC) Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed told a press briefing at Agargaon Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital.
Ahmed said the number of voters has increased by 4,54,403 from the preliminary figure he had provided on 14 May last.
“We will go to the local government elections with this voter list,” he added.
