At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two groups in Brahmanbaria’s Sarail upazila over unpaid money for ploughing farmland.
The clash took place among residents of Tighar village under Panishwar union of the upazila around noon today (26 August).
The injured were taken to local health facilities and the upazila health complex for treatment.
Confirming the matter, Sarail Police Station Officer-in-Charge Monzur Kader Bhuiyan said, “Police went to the scene and brought the situation under control. Legal action is being taken over the incident.”
According to police and locals, Ayub Khan was owed money by Jamal Mia for ploughing his farmland. The two got into an argument in the morning when Ayub asked Jamal to pay the outstanding amount.
Later, supporters of both sides became involved in the dispute and engaged in a clash using locally made weapons around noon.
The clash continued intermittently for several hours, leaving at least 20 people injured from both sides.
