Seven venues have been prepared for the prime minister’s programmes in Chattogram and surrounding areas, while around 2,500 police personnel have been prepared to ensure security during the visit.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is on a day-long visit to Chattogram today (9 August), with a meeting with Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Amir Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari among the key programmes of his tour.
The prime minister has already reached Matarbari in Maheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar, where he is scheduled to inspect the Matarbari deep-sea port, coal-fired power project and activities of the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority (MIDA).
Seven venues have been prepared for the prime minister’s programmes in Chattogram and surrounding areas, while around 2,500 police personnel have been prepared to ensure security during the visit.
Meeting with Hefazat amir
After completing his programmes in Maheshkhali, the prime minister is scheduled to travel to Fatikchhari and meet Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Amir Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari at Al-Jamiatul Islamia Azizul Uloom Babunagar Madrasa.
He will hold a courtesy meeting with Babunagari and exchange greetings.
The madrasa authorities and administration have made the necessary preparations for the meeting.
Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs State Minister Mir Mohammad Helal said the prime minister will attend several important programmes in Chattogram, including the meeting with the Hefazat amir and a rehabilitation programme for flood-affected people.
After the Fatikchhari programme, the prime minister will travel to Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Uloom Moinul Islam Madrasa in Hathazari, where he is scheduled to inspect the madrasa and attend a prayer session. He will later exchange views with eminent citizens at the Chattogram District Council Dak Bungalow.
Seven venues prepared
Seven venues have been prepared in Chattogram and surrounding areas for the prime minister’s programmes. Preparations at the venues in Fatikchhari, Hathazari and the city have been completed.
Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia said preparations for the designated venues, helipads and roads had been completed.
The prime minister is scheduled to hand over 100 houses built for flood-affected people in Banshkhali, distribute relief and provide financial assistance to people with disabilities.
Around 2,500 police on security duty
Law enforcement agencies have strengthened security measures for the visit. The programme venues, helipads, roads along the route, rooftops of buildings and important installations have been brought under security coverage.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasan Mohammad Shaukat Ali said all necessary measures had been taken in accordance with existing regulations. He said details could not be disclosed for security reasons.
Chattogram Superintendent of Police Mohammad Masud Alam said a coordinated plan had been taken to ensure security at every programme venue, helipad, route, building rooftop and important installation.
He said around 2,500 police personnel were prepared to perform security duties.
Maheshkhali and flood rehabilitation on schedule
The prime minister left Tejgaon Airport for Matarbari at 9:15am by helicopter and reached a helipad near Matarbari around 10:52am.
During his visit to Maheshkhali, he is scheduled to inspect the Matarbari deep-sea port, coal-fired power project and activities of MIDA.
After the Maheshkhali programmes, he is scheduled to travel to Chattogram and attend a rehabilitation programme at West Banshkhali High School and College ground in Baharchhara union at around 12:20pm, where new homes will be handed over to flood-affected families.
He will then travel to Fatikchhari for the meeting with Muhibbullah Babunagari.
At around 3:15pm, Tarique Rahman will visit Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Uloom Moinul Islam Madrasa in Hathazari and pay respects at the grave of late Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi.
He will then attend a flood rehabilitation programme at Hathazari Government College ground at 5pm.
BNP organisational meeting
At 7:15pm, the prime minister is scheduled to attend an organisational meeting with local BNP leaders at the auditorium of Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay View Hotel.
Designated leaders from Chattogram metropolitan, north and south district BNP are expected to attend the meeting.
After completing the day’s programmes, the prime minister is scheduled to return to Dhaka from Shah Amanat International Airport at around 9:30pm.
