Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 12kg of a newly emerging illicit drug “Kush”, worth an estimated Tk6 crore and detained a man during a raid in Satkhira’s Madhabkati area.

The operation was carried out today (6 August) after BGB received a tip-off that a consignment of drugs was being transported by motorcycle from Satkhira town to Jhaudanga.
The detainee was identified as Tariquzzaman, 24, son of Ohiduzzaman, a resident of Keragachi village under Kalaroa upazila.
Confirming the matter, Satkhira 33 BGB Battalion Commanding Officer Lt Col Kazi Ashiqur Rahman said this is the largest seizure of “Kush” in the country so far.
He also said “Kush” is primarily derived from the flower or bud of the marijuana plant. It is processed into a synthetic drug in liquid, powder or tablet form by mixing it with extra Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) chemicals.
“It is an extremely expensive drug, valued at Tk5,000 per gram. The total market value of the seized 12kg consignment stands at Tk6 crore,” he added.
BGB officials also seized the motorcycle and two mobile phones used by the detainee.
