A bomb-like object was found inside an abandoned umbrella beneath the Motijheel metro station this evening (24 July), prompting a bomb disposal operation by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Pedestrians spotted lights blinking from inside the umbrella at around 6:30pm and informed police, said Motijheel Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kamaruzzaman Talukder.
The area was immediately cordoned off, and the DMP Bomb Disposal Unit neutralised the device around 7pm, the OC added.
