Lil Wayne and Drake’s ties date back a long time. It was the Lollipop rapstar who, he said, spotted the Toronto rapper’s talent.
Speaking to Friends Keep Secrets podcast, the 43-year-old recalled how, for the first time he heard Drizzy, he was in total surprise at how the rapper switched from rapping to singing.
“When I heard [Drake], it was all rap. Then, one of those hooks came in and I was like, ‘Who’s on the hook?'”
He noted, “And they was like, ‘That’s him.’ And I was like, ‘That’s the guy? That’s him singing? Why he ain’t do more of this?'”
Witnessing such a talent, Wayne immediately signed up Drake for his Young Money Entertainment in 2009.
“It was instant. Like, come on, man,” the rapper shared.
But away from Wayne’s profuse praise, Drake has given Sexyy Red a reason to be over the moon.
It was when he splashed almost $50k on a luxury Birkin bag for the Pound Town rapper.
This comes after Drake lost a costly bet on the FIFA World Cup final, which was nearly $1.5 million.
But this loss of fortune did not stop him from showering the pricey bag on Red, who herself attended the final with the rapper.
Taking to Instagram, she flaunted the bag with the caption that read, “First date kinda nervous. THANKS FOR DA SHABIRKIN BABY DADDYYY BAE I LOVE YOUUUUU U MY EVERYTHING.”
In the meantime, there is no evidence so far to indicate that the current loss to Drake would discourage him from betting in the future.
