The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for seven divisions over the next 48 hours due to an active monsoon.
According to the weather warning issued today (20 July), the forecast will remain in effect from 11am for the following 48 hours.
The BMD said Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Sylhet divisions may experience heavy rainfall of 44-88mm within 24 hours at places, while some areas could receive very heavy rainfall exceeding 88mm.
The department also warned that very heavy rainfall could cause temporary waterlogging in different parts of the capital, Dhaka.
The warning comes after persistent heavy rainfall earlier this month severely disrupted normal life in several parts of the country, causing fatalities and widespread hardship.
