A young man was stabbed by unidentified assailants amid a crowd watching the Argentina-England match in Chattogram city’s No 2 Gate area under Panchlaish Police Station early Thursday (16 July).
The incident occurred around 2:30am.
The victim was rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where doctors admitted him to Ward No 2.
He is now out of danger, according to hospital authorities.
The injured, Md Asadul Haque, 21, is the son of Yasin Ali of Shikdar Bari in Chanua, Banshkhali. He currently resides in the Hamjarbag area of Chattogram.
Sohel Rana, assistant in-charge of the CMCH police outpost, said a group of unidentified miscreants stabbed Asadul while he was watching the match among a large gathering of spectators before fleeing the scene.
His friends later rescued him and took him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment, he added.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Panchlaish Police Station, Jahidul Islam, said, “We are aware that such an incident occurred. However, no one has filed a complaint so far. We will take action once a specific complaint is received.”
