Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (Duet), Gazipur, organised the “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair 2026” alongside a special seminar today (25 June), showcasing innovative projects and entrepreneurial ideas developed by its students.
The event was jointly organised by the university’s Directorate of Research and Extension and the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
Held on the 9th and 10th floors of the Shaheed Abu Sayeed Administrative Building, the fair featured participation from more than 200 final-year undergraduate students representing 10 academic departments. Students displayed a wide range of innovative projects and entrepreneurial concepts.
As part of the programme, a seminar titled “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education for Engineering Graduates: Global and National Perspective” was held at the Shaheed Shakil Parvez Auditorium.
Duet Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Engr Mohammad Iqbal inaugurated the fair and addressed the event as chief guest. The programme was chaired by IQAC Director Prof Dr Md Obaidur Rahman.
Speaking at the event, the vice-chancellor said, “In today’s world, sustainable development is not possible without technology-driven innovation and entrepreneurial thinking. Such initiatives will play a vital role in developing engineering students not only as skilled graduates but also as innovators and successful entrepreneurs.”
The keynote session was delivered by Prof Dr ASMA Hasib of the Department of Nanomaterials and Ceramic Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet).
Among others present were Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Arefin Kawsar, Director of Research and Extension Prof Dr Md Anwarul Abedin, and Director of Student Welfare Prof Dr Utpal Kumar Das, along with deans, department heads, faculty members, students, officers and staff.
