As Kanye West is performing a string of shows, a close collaborator gave him a surprise shout-out.
He is Tyler, The Creator.
Both rappers are public about how much they admire and are in awe of each other’s talent.
Taking to Instagram Story, Tyler shared a post showing his 2015 SAG HARBOR.
In the caption, he gave a heartfelt nod to Kanye, writing, “I always felt at home making these types of songs. Late by Ye, Dear Summer by Jay, always chasing that feeling.”
The rapper-duo’s bonhomie goes back a long way; even when many distanced themselves from Ye over his controversial spree on social media, The Creator apparently was still on his corner.
Kanye himself shared this example last year.
This is when the Chicago rapper posted a photo of A$AP Rocky – in a show of support – following his acquittal in a high-profile assault trial.
The Creator allegedly liked the post.
The Donda hitmaker then shared a second post, showing that his fellow rapper still liked him during the industry’s isolation.
“My daughter’s second-favourite artist still loves me,” Ye wrote.
Meanwhile, Kanye’s show in Texas is under scrutiny after a flood of criticism was launched at the event for hosting a figure who had previously been accused of anti-semitism.
