The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has reduced jet fuel prices for the third time in just over a month, further easing operating costs for airlines amid declining international fuel prices.
Under the latest adjustment, the price of Jet A-1 fuel for domestic flights has been set at Tk150.21 per litre, including duty and VAT, down from Tk165.88 per litre fixed on 23 May. The latest revision marks a decrease of Tk15.67 per litre, or around 9.4%.
In a press release issued today (7 June), BERC said that the revised prices will take effect from today.
For international flights operated by local and foreign airlines, the price has been reduced to $0.9808 per litre from the previous $1.0823 per litre, excluding duty and VAT. This represents a decline of $0.1015 per litre.
According to BERC, the latest prices were determined based on the average Platts rate published between 22 May and 4 June, changes in diesel prices, exchange rate movements and transportation costs.
The latest reduction follows a Tk39.57 per litre cut announced on 23 May, when the domestic Jet A-1 price was lowered from Tk205.45 per litre to Tk165.88 per litre.
Earlier, on 7 May, the regulator reduced aviation fuel prices by Tk22.35 per litre.
As a result, domestic jet fuel prices have fallen by a cumulative Tk55.24 per litre since 23 May and by more than Tk77 per litre since early May.
Despite the recent declines, jet fuel remains significantly more expensive than before tensions in the Middle East escalated earlier this year. In February, the domestic Jet A-1 price stood at Tk95.12 per litre.
