Police recovered the bodies of a man and a woman from a residential hotel in Chattogram today (1 June), with the cause of their deaths yet to be determined.
The bodies were recovered around 11am from a room at Hotel Royal Park, located near the entrance to Chattogram Zoo in the Akbar Shah area of the city.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Ripon, 47, and Sonia, 30.
According to police sources, Sonia was Ripon’s second wife. The couple checked into the hotel yesterday around noon. Their bodies were found in the room the following morning.
Police said a preliminary investigation found that both were residents of Chattogram.
Akbar Shah Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Kamruzzaman said the bodies had been sent to the morgue of Chattogram Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
“The specific cause of death can be known after receiving the autopsy report,” he said.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
