A nine-year-old girl was killed after being crushed by a fallen tree during a nor’wester in coastal Satkhira this evening (29 May).
The deceased was identified as Sharmin Sultana, daughter of Abdur Rouf of Ishwaripur village in Shyamnagar upazila.
Confirming the matter, Shyamnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khaledur Rahman said police have been sent to the scene.
Family members said heavy rain and strong winds began suddenly while Sharmin was playing near a tree beside her house. The tree collapsed on her, leaving her critically injured.
She was rescued and taken to the upazila health complex, where doctors declared her dead.
