A total of seven more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms between 8am yesterday and 8am today (16 April), according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), as the outbreak continues to intensify nationwide.
During the same 24-hour period, 1,191 patients with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country.
Of them, 92 cases were laboratory-confirmed as measles.
So far this year, at least 34 children have died from confirmed measles infections in Bangladesh.
In addition, 172 children have died with symptoms consistent with the disease.
DGHS data shows that between 15 March and 13 April, a total of 2,721 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing.

According to the latest health bulletin, 20,352 suspected measles cases have been identified nationwide. Of these, 10,496 patients have already been discharged after receiving treatment.
