40,000 Ordered to Evacuate in California Amid Toxic Chemical Tank Crisis
Firefighters kept working on Saturday at the GKN Aerospace aircraft components plant to stop a storage tank filled with a toxic chemical from failing in Garden Grove, Calif., risking a major explosion or a toxic spill.

There are literally two options left remaining. One, the tank fails and spills a total of about 6 to 7,000 gallons of very bad chemicals into the parking lot in that area. Or two, the tank goes into a thermal runaway and blows up, affecting the tanks that are around them that have fuel or the chemicals in them as well. Letting this thing just fail and blow up is unacceptable to us. Our goal is to find something and not allow that to happen, not let it damage our community, not let it damage our environment. That’s unacceptable.
