At least 30 people were reportedly injured in a clash between two groups in Faridpur’s Bhanga upazila over whether sacrificial meat would be stored at a mosque or taken home following Eid-ul-Adha prayers.
The incident took place around 10am today (28 May) in Purba Aruakandi village under Algi union.
Sub-Inspector Paresh Kumar of Bhanga Police Station said police rushed to the spot after receiving information and brought the situation under control.
Additional police have been deployed in the area, while tension still prevails, he added.
According to local sources, the dispute began after Eid prayers over the storage of sacrificial meat.
One group was led by Abu Bakar Munshi, while the other was led by Kamruzzaman Samrat, locals said.
Witnesses said the argument later turned violent, triggering a clash between the two sides.
Locals said at least 30 people, including men and women, were injured in the incident. Some received treatment locally, while the critically injured were taken to different hospitals.
