Three explosions were heard on the Dhaka University campus tonight (15 September).
The blasts were heard around 10:45pm, according to Dhaka University acting proctor Associate Professor Israfel Prang.
Speaking to The Business Standard, the proctor said, “The explosions were initially suspected to have been caused by crude bombs.”
“Two consecutive explosions were heard on the road in front of Jagannath Hall. Another explosion was heard eight to 10 minutes later, but we have not yet confirmed where it occurred on the campus,” he said.
“Our assistant proctors and police personnel are at the scene,” the proctor added.
The latest incident comes hours after a crude bomb exploded in front of the main gate near the road adjacent to the Supreme Court in Dhaka this afternoon.
The explosion occurred shortly after International Crimes Tribunal-2 sentenced seven accused, including Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, to death in a case involving crimes against humanity committed during the July mass uprising.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said the crude bomb blast near the Supreme Court was being investigated.
