Police have arrested two people in connection with a crude bomb explosion outside the old Ramna Police Station in Dhaka. Four more live crude bombs were later recovered based on information provided by the arrestees and subsequently defused, police said.
Ramna police arrested them during a raid on a house in Chairman Goli of Nayatola under Hatirjheel Police Station between 4am and 4:30am today (30 October), Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Ramna Division Additional Deputy Commissioner Robbani Hossain confirmed.
One of the arrested individuals is a minor, while the other has been identified as Jahidul Islam Monir, 20.
During interrogation, they reportedly informed police about four more live crude bombs. The bombs were subsequently recovered from the house and defused by the DMP’s Bomb Disposal Unit at Madhubagh Field around 8am.
“The process of taking further legal action against the two arrestees is underway. The recovered crude bombs have been defused,” Robbani told The Business Standard.
Earlier, miscreants detonated a crude bomb outside the old Ramna Police Station around 7:45pm on 23 October before fleeing the scene. No casualties were reported in the incident.
