Govt expected to place Tk7.90 lakh crore budget for FY2026-27 during second session of 13th parliament

The first budget session of the 13th parliament will begin on 7 June.
According to a notification issued by President Mohammed Shahabuddin today (7 May), the second session of parliament will commence at 3pm on 7 June, at the parliament building in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
The government is expected to place the national budget for fiscal year 2026-27 during the session.
According to finance ministry sources, the government is planning a Tk7.90 lakh crore budget, of which Tk2.30 lakh crore will be allocated for development expenditure and Tk5.60 lakh crore for operational expenditure.
To finance the proposed spending, the government has set a revenue collection target of Tk5.64 lakh crore. The remaining Tk2.26 lakh crore deficit is expected to be financed through domestic and foreign borrowing.
The first session of the new parliament was convened on 12 March and concluded on 30 April.
