A man was killed and at least five others injured in a clash between two groups in Terokhada upazila of Khulna this morning (25 April).
The deceased, identified as Nur Alam, 56, was critically injured during the clash and was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment, said Tajul Islam, Khulna superintendent of police.
According to locals, the clash began due to a dispute over rice harvesting allegedly between supporters of the Shahidul group and the Saiful group. The argument quickly escalated into violence, with both sides reportedly using locally made weapons.
Tajul said police and intelligence personnel have been deployed to the area to bring the situation under control.
“Authorities have launched an operation to arrest those involved,” he said, adding that the injured are currently receiving treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital.
