Police recovered the blood-stained body of a woman with her hands tied from a field in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga yesterday (13 March).
The deceased was identified as Jobeda Khatun, 45, the wife of late Tufan Hossain of Daliarpur village in the upazila.
Police suspect that she was hacked to death with a sharp weapon.
Confirming the matter, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jamal Al Naser said, “The woman went to cut grass in the morning and did not return home. Later, locals found her body in the field with her hands tied and injuries from sharp weapons.”
“The body will be sent to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy after preparing the inquest report,” the ASP added.
According to locals, Jobeda went out of her house in the morning to cut the grass but did not return home for a long time.
Later, locals found her body lying in a field in Gopalpur village with her hands tied and covered in blood. Some suspect that she might have been killed after a rape or after a failed rape attempt.
The incident has created panic in the area.
