Representative Don Davis, a Democrat, is running for re-election in a district that has grown steadily harder for him to retain. Davis won by four points in 2022, and only 1.5 points in 2024 after the Republican-controlled general assembly redrew the map. The General Assembly proceeded to redraw the map yet again, pushing the district even further to the right, resulting in the Cook Political Report rating it as leaning Republican in 2026. Davis is running unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Laurie Buckhout, Davis’s opponent in 2024, and Asa Buck are among several Republicans vying for the seat. If no candidate clears 30 percent of the vote in the primary, the second-place finisher can request a runoff.
