A three-member US delegation, led by US Ambassador in Dhaka Brent T Christensen, today (9 June) paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam, discussed the excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United States along with various issues of mutual interest.
They also discussed in detail issues related to enhancing mutual cooperation at the military level, exchange of experiences, and expansion of training activities between the two countries.
The meeting was held at the Defence Adviser’s office at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment, an ISPR press release said.The defence adviser recalled the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and the United States and expressed hope that cooperation in the defence sector would further accelerate in the coming days.
During the meeting, the US ambassador highly appreciated the professionalism of the Bangladesh Armed Forces and their contribution to UN peacekeeping missions.
It is expected that the meeting will further strengthen and expand defence cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States and the friendly relations between the two countries in the future.
