Britain looks forward to continuing to work closely together in the new chapter for Bangladesh, British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke said today after a meeting with Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman.
“I’ve just come from a very good meeting with the honorable foreign minister. I congratulated the honorable minister on taking up his new role here in the ministry of foreign affairs,” Cooke told reporters after emerging from the meeting at the foreign ministry.
“We had a very good discussion where we reaffirmed the strength and depth of the UK- Bangladesh partnership,” She added.
The British envoy said the talks covered a wide range of priority areas.
“We discussed strengthening cooperation across a whole range of different areas in support of our shared priorities including economic growth, migration, security, climate change, and also the Rohinga,” she said.
Referring to the longstanding bilateral ties, she said, “As you know, the UK has a very long-standing partnership with Bangladesh and we very much look forward to continue for working closely together in this new chapter of the country”.
