Bangladesh and the United Kingdom have renewed their focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on unlocking new investment opportunities in the aviation and tourism sectors during a high-level meeting in Dhaka.
The discussion was held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, where UK Trade Envoy Rosie Winterton met with Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita and State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat, according to a press release.
During the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of further strengthening trade and economic relations between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom. The UK envoy reiterated her country’s continued support for Bangladesh’s development priorities.
The talks also highlighted potential new areas of investment under a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), particularly in aviation and tourism. The UK expressed interest in engaging in ground handling operations at the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Bangladesh’s representatives welcomed the proposal and reaffirmed their commitment to working collaboratively to advance the country’s aviation infrastructure and boost the tourism industry.
Officials view the meeting as a constructive move toward expanding economic cooperation and creating fresh opportunities for foreign investment in Bangladesh’s evolving transport and tourism landscape.
