The Ministry of Public Administration has brought fresh changes at the top levels of the administration, according to official notifications issued today (29 March).
Under the new orders, Ashraful Islam, an additional secretary at the Ministry of Defence, has been promoted to secretary and appointed to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. Meanwhile, Ishrat Chowdhury, secretary of the same ministry, has been attached to the Ministry of Public Administration.
In another move, Md Mofidur Rahman, secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, has also been attached to the Ministry of Public Administration. Kaniz Mawla, secretary of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat – who was on deputation to the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) – has been appointed as secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
Earlier, on 25 March, IMED Secretary Sirajun Nur Chowdhury was attached to the Ministry of Public Administration. However, that order has now been suspended until further notice, meaning he will continue in his current post.
Zakaria, chairman of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority and an additional secretary, has been promoted and appointed as a member of the Planning Commission, a position carrying the status of a secretary.
In a separate notification, the ministry also cancelled the appointment of Md Abdur Rashid Mia as chief engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), just four days after issuing the appointment. The cancellation was confirmed on Saturday.
Besides, Additional Secretary Md Aknur Rahman has been posted to the Recruitment, Promotion and Deputation Wing of the Ministry of Public Administration.
