Well, for example, the critics are divided on the latest movie. Some say it is a stunning hit. While others call it a dull attempt.
InSession Film critic M.N. Miller writes, “It’s a far superior sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie.”
Reviewer Katie Smith-Wong in Movie Maker pens, “The Super Mario Galaxy movie surpasses its predecessor by refining its tonal balance between nostalgia and entertainment.”
The Hollywood Reporter’s Frank Scheck notes, “The operative word for this sequel to 2023’s smash hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie is ‘more’, as in more action, more characters, more Easter eggs, more everything.”
IndieWire’s Wilson Chapman pens, “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie offers a similar mind-numbing experience.”
However, critic Kristen Maldonado in Pop Culture Planet did not agree The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is better than The Super Mario Bros. “It’s fine, but doesn’t have the same spark as the original film.”
Variety’s Owen Gleiberman echoes the view, stating, “The first movie… was one of the best animated films in years. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is one of the worst.”
