The forest department rescued a spotted deer from Amurbunia of Bagerhat today (5 March) after it entered a residential area.
Forest guards from the Amurbunia patrol outpost rescued the deer and released it back into the Sundarbans, reports our local correspondent, quoting Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, divisional forest officer of the East Sundarbans Division.
Regarding this, the Forest Department said that after rescuing the deer from the locality, they gave it a health check. Finding that the deer is completely healthy, they released it back into the Sundarbans.
Forest Officer Rezaul, said, “People living in areas adjacent to the Sundarbans are now much more aware than before. When they see wildlife, they no longer try to harm them instead quickly inform the Forest Department. This is a very positive change.”
He also said, “Along with the Forest Department, awareness and cooperation from local people are extremely important to protect the wildlife of the Sundarbans. With such cooperation, the animals of the forest will remain safer”
