The government has granted a retrospective promotion to police officer Md Kohinoor Mia to the rank of additional deputy inspector general (DIG), just over a month after reinstating him following his dismissal 15 years ago.
The promotion was confirmed in a notification issued today (12 April) by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to the notification, Kohinoor Mia, a BCS (Police) cadre officer and former deputy commissioner (DC-West) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, has been granted a retrospective promotion to the rank of additional DIG. The promotion will be considered effective from 7 April 2015.
The order also states that he will be entitled to all due arrears of salary and benefits in accordance with existing rules.
Earlier, on 9 March, the government reinstated Kohinoor Mia into service by cancelling his dismissal order from nearly 15 years ago, following a special directive from the President.
